Soundcloud:
This app was very user friendly and easy to use. I signed up using my Google account and within
minutes i created an account. This app does not have a recording device so you must upload a recording. I used my built in recording app on my computer and uploaded it using the drop menu.  Soundcloud allowed me to upload an image so that student’s could easily identify the correct recording. My recording was inferences and making connections to inferences. Soundcloud also allows you to follow others and sort your collections into playlists, albums and stations. There are two upgraded options. Soundcloud Go is 4.99 a month and Soundcloud Go + is 9.99 a month.

I chose Soundcloud. I enjoyed using the app and felt it was the easiest to use. Here is my Soundcloud podcast.

Podomatic:
This app was overall easy to use. Users are allowed to create their own URLs as long as it is available. After uploading my recording, i was taken through a series of steps including choosing a graphic for the recording, a title and a description of the recording. There is a free basic publishing service which includes fifteen gigabytes a month, 500MB storage and no expiration.

Podbean:
Podbean has a free basic plan that includes 100MB monthly. They have three other paid options that range from $9.99 to $99 a month. Some features include being able to auto post to some social media accounts. The app was easy to use.

Podcasts are a great way to do short tutorials or reviews for students to replay at home. Teachers and the librarian can use podcast to teach information and include students to be a part of the podcast. Some other great ideas include a 30 min weekly show, featuring readings of short stories, mysteries, biographies, and humor. Book reviews and story circle can also be a great way to use podcast in the library.

  1. First of all, I enjoyed your lesson on inferencing. It was a great refresher lesson. I found it found that we used the same three Podcast Apps to discuss about. I preferred Podbean mainly because I had used it before for another class but the other two were also great to use. The reason I did not use Sound Cloud is because I felt it was too much like youtube with all the different pod casts that were available. I do think the majority of my students would enjoy it better than the other two but for me it was too much. Your podcast is one that I feel the kids would enjoy listening to on a weekly basis because you do give great examples and explain words that they might not the meaning of. Once again great job!

  2. Mrs. Vasquez,
Your Soundcloud podcast on inferencing was on point! Your podcast on inferencing was appropriately suited for students. You used an attention getter, and provided examples. I could see you using your Inferencing podcast and adding the link to your library website under student resources. In your post you also mentioned , Podbean. I remember using Podbean for a class and I loved using it. When I attempted to use if later, Podbean did not allow me to because I had a previous free account and it prompted me to pay the subscription. Thank you for posting additional podcast companies. I had not heard of any of the ones you posted so I will be looking into them shortly.

  3. Mrs. Vasquez,
That was/is a great podcast on inference. I like the way you explained it and the pacing. Inference is one concept that is hard for students to understand, but I think the way you explained it will help the students understand it better.

  4. You have the voice of a librarian! I think it was soothing and captivating to listen to. So many of these topics are not touched on enough and I would use this in my classroom with freshmen and even grades above and below. I think your pacing was also well done. Not to fast or slow. I was able to process each part and appreciated the voice inflection that you stressed on certain parts.

    Great Job, Mrs. Vasquez
